For 2025, the Class 12 performance condition for IIT admission and the JoSAA NIT+ admission route was generally at least 75% aggregate marks, reduced to 65% for SC, ST and PwD candidates, or the applicable category-wise top 20 percentile in the board examination. Prescribed subjects and calculation rules also mattered. This was an admission condition, not a universal minimum for writing JEE Main.

Standard durations do not include any compensatory time available under applicable rules. Also, Main’s sessions are separate opportunities, whereas Advanced Paper 1 and Paper 2 are both required parts of the same examination. Skipping one Advanced paper is not a valid strategy.
