Thar Desert is the 17th biggest desert in the world and the 9th largest subtropical desert in the world. This forms a natural border between Pakistan and India. The land in India occupies roughly 170,000 km2 (66,000 sq. mi) and the rest of the desert within Pakistan is 30,000 km2 (12,000 sq. mi). In the Indian state of Rajasthan, 60% of the desert is situated, and the states of Gujarat, Punjab, and Haryana and the Pakistani province of Sindhana are extended into other states.
