Hint: In this question we have given an expression and we have to evaluate it at \[y\] for the value of \[n=8\].
So, in order to get the value of a given expression at \[n=8\] we have to replace \[n\] with \[8\] in the given expression and after that we have to perform the required operations which can be added. Subtraction multiplication etc. in order to simplify the expression. Thus, after simplifying it we will get our required answer.
Complete Step by Step Solution:
In this question we have given the expression as follows.
Here we have to evaluate the expression \[\left( 1 \right)\] for the value of \[n=8\].
So, for that we will substitute the value of \[n=8\] in the expression \[\left( 1 \right)\] in place of \[n\].
Which implies.
On further simplifying the above expression we get,
$\Rightarrow 2\left( 8 \right)-7$
$\Rightarrow 16-7=9$
Hence, we get
\[2n-7=9\] for \[n=8\].
Note: To simplify any algebraic expression there are some important rules that we have always keep in mind which are as follows:
The basic rules and steps:-
• Remove any grouping symbol such as brackets and parentheses by multiplying factors.
• Use the exponent rule to remove grouping if terms are retaining exponents.
• Combine the like terms by addition or subtraction Also, combine the constants.
• After doing all the above steps we get the final linear equation then substitute the given value of variable in the final expression and on simplifying it we get the resultant.
