Hint: Firstly, we have to calculate the resultant resistance of the resistor. Then, find the total current flowing in the circuit. After that, calculate the total voltage drop across the $8\Omega $ resistor.
Formula Used:
$I=\dfrac{{E}/{V}\;}{R}$
Where, I is the amount of current flowing through the circuit,${E}/{V}\;$is defined as the amount of voltage drop in the whole circuit and R is the amount of resistance to be offered by the resistor in the circuit.
Complete step-by-step solution:
It is given that,
${{R}_{1}}=6\Omega $
${{R}_{2}}=8\Omega $
$E=12v$
And we have to find Voltmeter ‘V’ Reading.
So,${{R}_{eq}}=6+8=14\Omega $
Therefore, Current will be :-
$I=\dfrac{E}{{{R}_{eq}}}$
$I=\dfrac{12}{14}$
$I=\dfrac{6}{7}\Omega $
Now, $V=IR$
$V=\dfrac{6}{7}\times 8$
$V=\dfrac{48}{7}$
So, the result is $V=6.86v$
Hence, the voltmeter reading in the given circuit is $6.86v$.
Additional Information: Electric Resistance denoted by 'R' is defined as the electric current when flowing through a bulb or any conductor, the conductor offers some obstruction or restriction to the current and this obstruction or restriction is known as Resistance and Its SI unit is ohm (‘$\Omega $’). While Electric Current denoted by 'I' is defined as the rate of flow of charge or electrons in a conductor, the SI Unit of electric current is the Ampere ('A') and Electric Voltage is defined as the electric potential drop along a wire when an electric current dissipates power due to resistor. Its SI unit is Volt (‘$v$’) .
Note:Always first write the things which are given. Then, find an equivalent of them. After that, find the expression one by one in a stepwise way. So, to get the right answer without hassles.
