Complete answer: Dantidurga was also referred to as Dantivarman or Dantiduga II. He was the founder of the Rashtrakuta dynasty. India was ruled by many dynasties but most of them could not retain power for a long time. However, the Rashtrakuta dynasty was one of the kingdoms that held power in Karnataka for a long period of time. They had strong control over the northern, central and southern parts of India. The capital of the Rashtrakuta dynasty was Gulbarga. Throughout his reign, Dantidurga displayed immense bravery by defeating many powerful emperors.
After defeating the Chalukyas he was awarded the titles of Rajadhiraja and Parameshvara as it is mentioned in the Ellora record. During Dantidurga’s reign, the Arab conspired and decided to extend their empire over India. However, they failed due to the presence of the powerful Chalukya kingdom in the South. Dantidurga was yet a prince at that time but he still fought bravely and defeated the Arabs. The Arab text Silsilat-al-Tawarikh described the Rashtrakutas as one of the most powerful empires of the world. Dantidurga also defeated the Kings of Kosala, Kalinga and Malwa. He made friends with the Pallava King Nandivarman II Pallavamalla after which he defeated the Chalukyas and established the Rashtrakuta kingdom.

Note: Dantidurga’s uncle Krishna I succeeded him after his death. He established the Rashtrakuta rule all over Karnataka. Krishna I received the titles of Subhatunga and Akalavarsha.
